Beware of molds which can develop in the sleeping bags if the bags are wet and damp. Avoid storing the bags in cold and damp places which can lead to growth of molds. But you don’t need to throw the bags away if there are molds growing on it. But you can go to the cleaning process which may take some long time but can successfully remove the molds from the sleeping bags. You have to follow certain instructions.'
- You have to mix ½ cup of Lysol with 1 gallon of hot water.
- Then you have to soak the sleeping bag in the mixture especially the affected area which will prevent from growing the molds.
- Then drain the Lysol mixture and let the bag remain over there.
- Again mix 1 cup of lemon water and 1 cup of salt with 1 gallon of hot water to get rid of the mold smell.
- After that pour the mixture over the sleeping bad and then squeeze out the excess liquid from it.
- Finally the sleeping bag is to be dried completely either outside in the direct sunlight or in a warm place. It will take one or two days for the sleeping bag to be dried completely.
These steps have to be followed thoroughly. You can get the molds remove completely from the sleeping bags like these. It is also recommended that you wash the sleeping bag after treating the mold spots. Bleach should not be used on sleeping bags as it will damage the fabric and ruin the bag completely. Try to follow all the instructions in order to get a nice mold free sleeping bag again. And for this you need some time and patience only.
